Business of education helps Monash put foot in door - The Age (subscription)
Monash has always had significant ties with China. The Monash Centre of Policy Studies, in co-operation with China's Ministry of Commerce, worked on modelling the economic impacts of the proposed Australia-China free trade agreement, and last year my faculty of business and economics played a key role in developing the university's China strategy, which is being implemented by the North Asia steering group, of which I am chairman. Our key aim was to establish a network of academic alliances and partnerships with the best of China's universities and research institutions to create a Monash presence based on collaborative research and education programs that benefit the staff and students of both.
