If you are having trouble figuring out what school(s) to apply to then it might be time to seek the help of a professional. The college admissions process is definitely not what it used to be. Schools are much more competitive and harder to gain admission into these days. Times have definitely changed and while college enrollment is up per capita in the United States, the building of new colleges and universitites is not. This is the classic example of supply and demand and scarcity. The bottom line is, there are still many great schools out there that are available for just about every college bound student out there. But, how do you find them and know which one is right for you. Websites like College and University Search and professional college counselors like Danielle Bianchi, can help you figure out what school is best for your student. They can also help you find schools that you may never have heard of that might open your child’s eyes to the world around them. When in doubt, seek help.

Promising job outlook for students who have a GED or college degree and are studying to become a nurse, techaer, engineers or other technical degrees from 2-year or 4-year schools.
Mark Giauque reporting You’ve paid a lot of money to get your son or daughter through College, now there’s evidence it all may be worth while. The job outlook is the best it’s been in a decade according to the Department of Workforce Services. Economist Mark Knold says from registered nurses, to teachers, to engineers, to those with two-year technical degrees, the job market in Utah looks good, good enough to keep many of the 20-thousand who’ll graduate in coming weeks here in Utah. Mark Knold: “The overall level of the Utah economy itself is not something that should drive those students out.” Knold says recruiters have been on college campuses in higher numbers, looking for grads from many areas.

Good news for college students using some kind of financial aid. A new bill proposed in the House of Representatives would cut interest rates on college loans:
Miller bill would cut interest on college loans Congressman George Miller, D-Solano, and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., introduced legislation Thursday they say will ease the financial burden placed on many college students today. Dubbed the “Reverse the Raid on Student Aid Act of 2006,” the legislation aims to cut interest rates in half on college loans for student borrowers with the most financial need and for parent borrowers. “The high cost of tuition should never prevent a qualified student from getting a college education, but Republican leaders in Congress apparently don’t see it that way,” Miller, the senior Democrat on the Committee on Education and the Workforce, said in a press release. “Democrats want to take America in a new direction, and that includes reversing the Republican raid on student aid and making college more affordable for all students and families.” Saying that Republicans cut $12 billion out of the federal student aid to finance tax breaks for wealthy Americans, Miller and Durbin claimed college is less affordable now. They said that their new bill reflects the kind of serious investment that America must make if it - more available

I didn’t realize there was a University of Guam, but apparently there is. Pretty interesting quick little article about the U of Guam.
The institution continues to grow its student enrollment, raising it by 30 percent from 2001 to 2005. The University remains an affordable option for our children who want to pursue a college education. The University of Guam’s successes are something of which the community should be proud. It is critical that the school’s mission continues to be supported by our elected leaders. The university’s success translates into an overall benefit to our island, as graduates find their way into our labor ranks. During the past few months, the university has had to put projects on hold because it wasn’t receiving its budget allotments. The situation only recently has improved. This financial hold meant that laboratories couldn’t upgrade their equipment, which then meant students continued to work with equipment outdated in the real word. A university writing gym had to continue to use the personal equipment of its instructor because it could not buy a new printer or computer. The students deserve better than this. Support for the educational system on island has to span from pre-kindergarten to post-secondary. It is clear that there is a crisis in our elementary and secondary ranks as we graduate students who can’t read at - more available

We are proud to announce that we have a sister site located at Colleges in Georgia. At this point, the site has a number of cool features that I would like to point out. One, is the number of smaller vocational type schools and colleges that they have segmented out of their database. Things like Christian schools, hair schools and schools of cosmetology all located inside the state of Georgia can be found quickly and easily via the navigation bar. Of course, the navigation should be familiar to anyone who uses the collegeanduniversitysearch.net website…it is almost identical. We have also tried to incorporate relevant news for each college and university that is found on the Colleges in Georgia website. So, be sure to check it out and let us know what you think.
