A: For the past three years the Lenawee County Chamber has invested heavily in research and analysis on Lenawee's economy. Our primary workforce development partner, South Central Michigan Works!, has also invested heavily in research. As a result, more is known about the Lenawee economy than ever before. We are developing a comprehensive economic development strategy based on the research. In just the past 10 days, chamber staff members facilitated planning meetings in Cambridge, Clinton and Franklin townships and Deerfield Village and Adrian. Every local unit of government has been offered the opportunity to participate and many have. We have a full schedule through the end of the year, with a written strategy due by the end of February. But we are not in limbo, waiting on a finished document. Due to our intense focus over the past 36 months, information gained from these meetings is immediately useful as we work to attract ”new economy“ jobs and investments throughout the county. We maintain an active program to retain existing employers. Lenawee County Chamber staff, SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), Small Business Technology and Development Center (SBTDC), Small Business Assistance Center (Detroit Regional Economic Development Partnership), and others are available - more available
