Frank the moderator: Via emailWhat kind of programs -- training, mentoring -- are available locally to help those interested in health-care fields, but who still need basic training in job skills? Cyndie Wilmot: There are five RN programs in Rhode Island, and a growing need for nurses, both in Rhode Island and across the country. Lifespan offers a number of student nursing programs, where students can gain experience in a hospital setting while attending school. Rhode Island Hospital offers training in Radiologic Technology, including both a full-time and a part-time program. In addition, for those already trained as Radiologic Technologists, R.I. Hospital offers a program for Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and Mammography. Healthcare is a growing field with many opportunities and excellent benefits.
