Schools adjust cirriculum to meet new state requirements - Boonville Daily News

BoonvilleBoonville High School Principal Jay Webster noted that a few changes need to be made to 2010's graduating class' cirriculum, despite the fact that Boonville High School graduates already need to complete 24 credit hours of course work to graduate.“We need to add a half unit of health and a half unit of personal finance to the graduation requirements,” he said. “The kids will also need to take an additional communication arts class, math class, and science class than what is already required. Health class would be offered sophomore year, first or second semester,” noted Webster. “Personal finance could be taken junior or senior year, but we would heavily recommend it during the junior year.”Courses in health and personal finance could be taken during the summer, said Webster, so students could have some schedule flexibility, allowing them to take elective courses that interest them, as well as vocational/technical and fine arts courses.Bunceton“Bunceton has required 24 credits for graduation for many years now,” said Mary Lynn Battles, superintendent of the Cooper County R-IV school district in Bunceton.
