CMU’s University Art Gallery will host the 2005 Juried Mid America Print Council (MAPC) Exhibition Oct. 21 through Nov. 21. The exhibit, which is the product of a highly competitive national juried competition that only occurs once or twice each year, will feature 63 artworks by 63 artists who all use some form of print media, including collage, engraving, mixed media and woodcut. The exhibit will kick off with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24. Admission to both the reception and the exhibit is free and open to the public. “This exhibit provides a unique opportunity to view some of the best contemporary print art currently being produced in the United States,” said Elizabeth Guheen, director of the University Art Gallery.All artists are members of the Mid America Print Council, which provides education about and promotes awareness of the art of making original prints, books and handmade paper, as well as drawing.
