Candidates go knocking on doors - Boston Globe
Harrington, who is City Council president and a 16-year veteran of Brockton politics, was the top vote-getter in the Sept. 20 preliminary election. He won 58 percent of the vote, while 29 percent went to Stewart, a first-time candidate. The preliminary race, held to narrow the field to two, ended the candidacies of Arnold Greenblatt and Melvin Lightford. The winner of the Nov. 8 final election will replace 10-year incumbent Mayor John T. Yunits Jr., who is not seeking reelection.
