COM puts focus on recruitment - Marin Independent-Journal
The college's enrollment has dropped nearly 70 percent since 1980, when the college had 20,208 students. The reasons for the decline are complex, college officials say. For example, a 2004 demographic study for the college by Lapkoff and Gobalet Demographic Research, based in Berkeley, showed Marin has a relatively small pool of potential applicants. Marin's 18- to 24-year-olds comprise 4 percent of its population, compared with 7 percent in that age group statewide.
