LHP Andrew Albers (freshman, North Battleford, Sask.) took the lose as the Kentucky Wildcats were beaten 8-3 by the 8th-ranked LSU Fightin' Tigers in front of 7,297 fans at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Albers pitched five innings allowing eight hits and six runs -- three earned -- as he walked four and struck out a pair. Albers is now 4-5. SS Mike Ambrose (junior, St. Thomas, Ont.) singled and stole a base as the Charlotte '49ers edged the Louisville Cardinals 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth before 558 fans at Phillips Field in Charlotte, N.C. Ambrose had two hits and knocked in a run in a 9-8 loss to Louisville. RHP Derek McDaid (junior, Barrie Ont.) started and worked three innings, but did not figure in the decision. McDaid allowed nine hits and six runs -- five earned -- while walking two and striking out one. Ambrose had a pair of hits, knocked in two runs and stole his 17th base as Charlotte lost 12-8 to Louisville. 1B Karl Amonite (senior, Woodslee, Ont.) had three hits, including a pair of doubles, while 2B Tyler - more available
