Industry day to provide career exploration - Sand Mountain Reporter
Published February 4, 2006 Industry Day events, organized by Alabama Industrial Development Training and Alabama Career Technical Education, will route students through career exploration and help them focus on career options. The first event of its kind, Industry Day in Marshall County will be Feb. 24 at Snead State Community College’s Bevill Center for sixth- through ninth-grade Marshall County students. “The students will be able to visit each on of the employers there to find out what kind of jobs there are out there and how they can begin preparing for a career they might be interested in,” said Phyllis Wesley, AIDT public information officer. AIDT will begin sending letters to area business and industry asking for Industry Day support. Speakers will be solicited from local business/industry to address careers. “Please participate to the maximum level your business/industry will allow,” Wesley said. “This is a large effort by the state to address your emerging workforce concerns.
