Entertainment Calendar - Charlotte Observer

JOSEPH DORSCH WORKS CONCERT: 7 p.m. today, Mauney Music Building Recital Hall, Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory. Dorsch is a 2001 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne and is currently on staff at the college. He is a published composer and has written compositions for the Lenoir-Saxophone Ensemble, woodwind performer Jay Easton, pianist John Cheek and baritone saxophonist Brad Hubbard's Diametric Ensemble. The concert will include performances by the Lenoir Saxophone Ensemble, trombonist Christopher Nigrelli and pianists John Cheek and Jeana Neal Borman. Dorsch will be playing baritone sax and contralto clarinet. Also featured will be Irish poet Adrian Rice, who will read from scripture to complement one of the saxophone pieces and artist Robbin Isenhour, who will draw her impressions of one of Dorsch's pieces while it is being played.
